Web Developer, Intern (Part-Time)
Websmith Group, a website solutions firm located in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a part-time Web Developer intern for an immediate opening. The ideal candidate is a Computer Science or Information Systems major attaining their Bachelors degree and possess an interest in web programming. Some background in computer programming, whether through education or as a hobby, is required.
Required Technologies:
- Knowledge of and some experience with multimedia applications, database interactions, data modeling tools and Internet protocols.
- Knowledge and some experience with MySQL.
- Knowledge and some experience with SQL SERVER.
- Knowledge of and some experience with .NET ASP/ASP.NET framework and Visual Studio,
- Knowledge of and some experience with DHTML skills (HTML, JavaScript, Actionscript, etc.),
- Knowledge of and some experience with web scripting languages (e.g., AJAX, VBScript, JavaScript, PHP, XML and JQuery) ,
- Understanding of servers, networking and remote desktop,
- Understanding of object oriented development,
- Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat
Desired (the following skillset(s) are a plus, but not required):
- Proficient in CSS Layout & Design,
- Wordpress, Drupal, and/or Joomla theme development and customization,
- Adobe Flash and Adobe Fireworks and Adobe Illustrator are a plus
- Understanding of web architecture, file structures and file management,
- Understanding of optimizing pages and images for the web to work with all platforms and browsers
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimization
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop, test, deploy and maintain client web sites and web applications using mainly CSS (HTML), ASP, PHP, VBScript, JavaScript, MySQL and SQL SERVER.
- Maintain, change and update existing websites/databases, and create and test new ones as needed.
- Maintain and manage backup procedures for our site, our client sites and all related databases.
- Test user interface and backend processes.

- A time commitment of at least 15 hours per week
